One way to buy the best laptop is to decide first on the most popular laptop brand. And the easiest way to do it is to look up number of searches by brand. If Yahoo searches are any indications, it has a nifty tool to check which laptop brand is the most popular. My research shows that Dell is still the best. Despite the Internet news that the Dell is loosing its market share, Dell laptop is still first the most searched laptop in the US. Next best is HP laptop with almost 50% less in the number of searches then Dell's but with a significantly higher number that one year ago. Sony laptop's popularity has picked up almost as well. I believe that searches for Apple laptop and Acer laptop have really picked up for the last couple of years. With the number of searches five times less that of Dell's are Gateway and Compaq laptop brands. IBM laptop has lost most of it since the company sold out their computer making unit to Lenovo. And Lenovo laptop is not anywhere near the most popular brands, getting ahead of a less known in the US laptop brand like Panasonic. Also need to factor in the fact that people searching more for laptops in general.
